| When we started Rat Star Arts nearly 4 years ago it was done as a hobby. Even the title “Rat Star Arts” was a joke, an anagram that we thought would make a cool company name. Rat Star Arts was a page of some doodles done with a track ball trying to learn a computer painting program called Fractal Design Painter. Ericka could not draw or paint normally because of the pain from a severe wrist injury. We never would have dreamed this site would gather so much attention or so many wonderful visitors from around the world!
Aside from historical journals and art publications, Ericka’s work has been seen on calendars, apparel and various gifts as well as in many gallery shows. It is now available for purchase on cell phones by such major companies as T-Mobile, Samsung, Motorola and Cingular among many many others! In 2003 Ericka was an invited guest to an exclusive artist reception in Las Vegas with her agency that contracts the best names in illustration such as Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Carlos Cartagena, Shari Warren, Guy Bruvel and Ericka’s childhood idol, Greg Hildebrandt. It was a great honor to be included among these amazing artists, the highlights of the evening were chatting with Greg, Carlos, Shari and so many other great artists and having 3 pieces of her art leave with a representative from Disney! Ericka is currently working on a few independant projects as well as adding to her continual supply of costumes. If you see an '88 Cadillac Brougham Hearse drive by, it just might be the Rat Star Arts Mobile. ------------------------ I hope you have as much fun viewing my work as I do painting it. ^.^ Let joy and Innocence prevail! Peace! ~ Ericka Baque, April 21, 2005 |
